no-school school - its a school but its not a school....its like being at school as in you learn things but not like being at school as in (          ), however its not like being at school for a particular person...

THE CURRICULUM

- THE LANGUAGE OF LANGUAGES:::

                                                               not just studying languages but finding out what goes on amongst them,

therefore the potential of a class of people speaking a broad background of languages

doing active linguistics "oh, so that thing in that language is the same as that thing in that"

-MUSIC & CULTURE

otherwise its BAND AID from here to eternity

                                                                       so, for example, dub professor simeon dann will be enlightening you as to the relation between the music of reggae, how it actually sounds and the content it manifests, and how that is determined by the way it is actually produced in a certain place and time, its sociology/ethnography.

so, a class of musicians choosing to talk about some particular music they love, making music together, and making a musical culture on the basis of these discussions.....

- british history that might never be taught in "schools"

       whats that thing? the british empire? how did THAT happen?...and this is england right? and when did that start? it hasnt always been this way? really? and the english civil war - i never learned about that in school, why not? only the most important event determining the current institutional make-up of the country.....of course, we dont need to know about that

cos then we might realise that history isnt something dead that exists in books and and and and and and and

      and

*DRUGS*

taught without supposition? is that even possible?

but wouldnt it be nice to actually have some idea how it all works? beyond the mental barrier of illegality

and the history

and social role

of drugs

cos surely theres a reason

why they are enjoyable

as well as dangerous

hopefully, leading academic Dr. Gary Potter will be teaching this course...he knows alot about drugs and hes got the qualifications to prove it

- SEEDS

                               theres alot to learn

      how to enjoyably pass leisure time without tv? people have been working on it forever....

- world mythology, the work of joseph campbell....bed-time stories containing a mental revolution

WHATEVER ANYONE WANTS TO LEARN/TEACH

COS< UNDOUBTEDLY, TEACHERS LEARN MORE TEACHING THAN STUDENTS DO LEARNING FROM TEACHERS TEACHING....

so, this is the blueprint for the no-school school...

coming to brighton, january 2006 - students and teachers needed....and a place for it to happen....but this initial nomadism might be the best expression of no-schoolness. lack of supposition? lack of physical manifestation....
